Yamaha Indonesia has launched another automatic transmission scooter
“Soul GT” in Indonesia to strengthen its position in automatic scooter
segment. Soul GT has YMJET-FI fuel-injected 115cc (113cc) engine and it
will give better fuel efficiency compared to other models. The scooter
has some next generation technologies from Yamaha and it is targeted to
young male customer. Yamaha Indonesia is marketing this scooter with
tagline “Cool, Agile, Efficient”. The company aims to sell about
4,00,000 units of Soul GT per year in Indonesia.
Soul GT has got four stroke, 2 valve, SOHC, fan cooled 113cc fuel
injected engine which generates maximum power of 7.75PS @ 8,500 rpm and
maximum torque of 8.5NM @ 5,000 rpm. It has got DAiSil cylinder and
forged piston which is found on Yamaha YZF R15. Its headlamp shape is
inspired from modern American car front grill and angel eyes (front side
lights) are inspired from European luxury sedan. The scooter
speedometer is unique and looks dashing.
The name GT has three meaning according to Yamaha. From the customer
point of view GT stands for Gentle man. From technology point of view GT
stands for Great Technology/Green Technology. In terms of design GT
means Grand Toursimo/Grand Touring. The combination of these three is
Yamaha Soul GT. It is available in seven colors which are Fighting Red
GT Soul, Woman Blue, Green Lightning, Sirius Black, White Lunar and new
colors Deep Purple and Bronze Armor. Yamaha is selling this for
Indonesia Rupiah 13.9 million (Rs. 77,800) on road in Jakarta and
surrounding areas.
The launch of Soul GT is a part of its medium term growth strategy to
strengthen product competitiveness, appeal and profitability in the
ASEAN two wheeler market. Earlier the company launched Mil J and Mio
Fino in the month of February. Indonesia is the world’s third largest
two wheeler market with 8 million units sold a year and Yamaha Indonesia
has second position in this market.
